A team of performance consultants looks closely at the operations of a cable services provider to identify existing performance gaps, barriers to performance, declining customer satisfaction ratings, and increased call volumes. The team used performance‐centered design (PCD) solutions in order to overcome technical support challenges through increased first‐call resolution. This article summarizes the root cause analysis, process, and the application of PCD solutions to close performance gaps, along with lessons learned from this case study.  相似文献

Exergames (active video games that require kinesthetic movement) played in proximity to other players or against a gaming machine have been linked to positive increases in cognitive functioning. This study tested to see if remote exergame play over the Internet had an impact similar to exergames that are played in proximity. The study shows that remote exergaming can result in positive gains in cognitive functioning.  相似文献

In Experiment 1, pigeons were trained with a 1-sec dark and a 1-sec houselight-illuminated delay interval to discriminate between sequences of two and four flashes of light (feeder illumination). The sequences could be discriminated on the basis of the number of flashes, the number of gaps, or the duration of the gap between flashes. A choose-few bias was obtained at extended dark delays, but not at extended illuminated delays. Pigeons appeared to confuse long dark delays with the longer gap between flashes on few-sample trials. In Experiment 2, additional sample sequences were included that made gap duration an unreliable cue for discriminating between the few and many samples. A significant choose-many bias was obtained at extended dark delay intervals, but no biased forgetting was found at extended illuminated delays. The pigeons appeared to discriminate light flash sequences by relying on multiple temporal features of a sequence rather than using an event switch to count flashes. The authors reviewed theories of organization effectiveness, proposed a multivariate model, and empirically tested determinants of effectiveness of local school citizens' participation organizations with respondents in a metropolitan public school system. The results suggest that resource acquisition and internal process effectiveness in citizens' groups are inversely correlated with the perceived need for improvement in student achievement and the quality of life in the local school.
