AbstractIn January 2020, liaison librarians at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) adopted the online appointment scheduling tool “Microsoft Bookings” for student research consultations. We have found that a consistent web-based scheduling system has decreased demands on liaisons’ time, provided an easier referral method for our front-line desk staff, and lowered barriers for student access. In this column, we discuss our process and outcomes, as well as practical suggestions for those interested in adopting such a program at their institution. 相似文献

In this study, the researchers examined how K-8 teachers approach morality, moral education, and the moral development of children in Turkey and in the United States. Both countries have diverse cultures and long histories with secular education systems. Surveys were sent to teachers in nine cities in both countries. Results suggest that Turkish teachers emphasized societal values and global values, which have implications for the sustainability of the Turkish nation-state. American teachers emphasized moral action and morality in context (cultural relativity) rather than global values. In this session of the NASIG and Society of Scholarly Publishing joint program, a panel of lawyers conversed on topics related to the creation of copyright policy that impact both librarians and publishers. The topics chosen were selected to highlight areas of possible controversy between librarians and publishers. Dialogue centered on the concepts of international first sale, fair use, licensing and mass digitization, library exceptions, possible revisions to sections of the U.S. Copyright Act, and the relationships between accessibility issues and copyright. Through conversational style discussions the panelists conveyed to the audience that achieving balance in copyright law is challenging and the process often creates constructive tension among the rights of stakeholders. 相似文献
