The medical, agricultural and biotechnological importance of the primitive eukaryotic microorganisms, the Fungi was recognized way back in 1920. Among various groups of fungi, the Aspergillus species are studied in great detail using advances in genomics and proteomics to unravel biological and molecular mechanisms in these fungi. Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus parasiticus, Aspergillus nidulans and Aspergillus terreus are some of the important species relevant to human, agricultural and biotechnological applications. The potential of Aspergillus species to produce highly diversified complex biomolecules such as multifunctional proteins (allergens, antigens, enzymes) and polyketides is fascinating and demands greater insight into the understanding of these fungal species for application to human health. Recently a regulator gene for secondary metabolites, LaeA has been identified. Gene mining based on LaeA has facilitated new metabolites with antimicrobial activity such as emericellamides and antitumor activity such as terrequinone A from A. nidulans. Immunoproteomic approach was reported for identification of few novel allergens for A. fumigatus. In this context, the review is focused on recent developments in allergens, antigens, structural and functional diversity of the polyketide synthases that produce polyketides of pharmaceutical and biological importance. Possible antifungal drug targets for development of effective antifungal drugs and new strategies for development of molecular diagnostics are considered.  相似文献

In this work, we have investigated text readability in Bangla language. Text readability is an indicator of the suitability of a given document with respect to a target reader group. Therefore, text readability has huge impact on educational content preparation. The advances in the field of natural language processing have enabled the automatic identification of reading difficulty of texts and contributed in the design and development of suitable educational materials. In spite of the fact that, Bangla is one of the major languages in India and the official language of Bangladesh, the research of text readability in Bangla is still in its nascent stage. In this paper, we have presented computational models to determine the readability of Bangla text documents based on syntactic properties. Since Bangla is a digital resource poor language, therefore, we were required to develop a novel dataset suitable for automatic identification of text properties. Our initial experiments have shown that existing English readability metrics are inapplicable for Bangla. Accordingly, we have proceeded towards new models for analyzing text readability in Bangla. We have considered language specific syntactic features of Bangla text in this work. We have identified major structural contributors responsible for text comprehensibility and subsequently developed readability models for Bangla texts. We have used different machine-learning methods such as regression, support vector machines (SVM) and support vector regression (SVR) to achieve our aim. The performance of the individual models has been compared against one another. We have conducted detailed user survey for data preparation, identification of important structural parameters of texts and validation of our proposed models. The work posses further implications in the field of educational research and in matching text to readers.  相似文献

Environmental occurrence of Aspergillus and other fungal spores are hazardous to humans and animals. They cause a broad spectrum of clinical complications. Contamination of aflatoxins in agri-food and feed due to A. flavus and A. parasiticus result in toxicity in humans and animals. Abstract

Library automation provides a comprehensive way to lessen physical labor, reduce human error and grant access to information materials anywhere and anytime. A mobile computerized system for handling the activities and services of the library helps the library staffs to process the work more accurately, and it saves time as well. This research work aimed to design and implement an Android application for the library so that libraries can use to overcome the social and other challenges that prevent them from providing services on the go. The Android application was designed and implemented using the Android Studio which contains XML (extensible mark-up language) and Java. At the back-end HTML (Hypertext mark-up language), CSS (Cascading Style Sheet), PHP (PHP Hypertext pre-processor), and MySQL database were used. The system was tested after the development and found it suitable for meeting all the requirements specified. The system can add to the integrity of the library, ease the activities of the librarian and eliminate the stress related to the current process of searching for library books and other study materials. Before the introduction of the Android OS, access to the library documents was done only by the librarian. Android applications have become more popular and it holds a maximum number of users when compared to all other platforms. The Android application retrieves the information stored in the library database through the library server, for example, checking whether the books are available in the library or borrowed without intervening anyone. Users can suggest books for the library, and they are notified about their suggestion by the librarian. This article brings a new idea of the users to access the library.  相似文献

Analysing the behaviour of student performance in classroom education is an active area in educational research. Early prediction of student performance may be helpful for both teacher and the student. However, the influencing factors of the student performance need to be identified first to build up such early prediction model. The existing data mining literature on student performance primarily focuses on student-related factors, though it may be influenced by many external factors also. Superior teaching acts as a catalyst which improves the knowledge dissemination process from teacher to the student. It also motivates the student to put more effort on the study. However, the research question, how the performance or grade correlates with teaching, is still relevant in present days. In this work, we propose a quantifiable measure of improvement with respect to the expected performance of a student. Furthermore, this study analyses the impact of teaching on performance improvement in theoretical courses of classroom-based education. It explores nearly 0.2 million academic records collected from an online system of an academic institute of national importance in India. The association mining approach has been adopted here and the result shows that confidence of both non-negative and positive improvements increase with superior teaching. This result indeed establishes the fact that teaching has a positive impact on student performance. To be more specific, the growing confidence of non-negative and positive improvements indicate that superior teaching facilitates more students to obtain either expected or better than expected grade.  相似文献

Inspired by James Watt’s approximate straight line generator, kinematicians of the 19th century challenged themselves to design a mechanical device that could convert rotary motion into a perfect straight line and vice versa. Few inventions emerged in 1864 due to Peaucellier and Lipkin and in 1875 due to Hart. Just a year later, in 1876, Alfred B Kempe presented a generalized method for linkages that could exactly trace any algebraic curve of degree n and not just a straight line. This work of Kempe is of classical importance. Yet, many are not aware of it perhaps because the resulting linkages are quite complex. This article discusses Kempe’s method that highlights the way he treated the rotations analytically using only parallelograms and contra-parallelograms to get the final rigidbody linkage tracing a given algebraic curve. An elaborate example with geometric construction using only a ruler and compass is presented to help the readers understand the assembly of Kempe’s linkages.  相似文献
