Knowing is an enacted, communicated process that is difficult to observe, let alone manage, in organizations. Communities of practice (CoPs) offer a productive solution for improving knowledge and knowledge management, but the communicative processes that enact CoPs have not been explored, leaving CoPs as an organizational black box. This research extends CoP theory as a means to determine the presence of a CoP and distinguish between various CoPs, and as a practical means to evaluate the communicative processes of organizational knowledge. CoPs enact the communicative nature of knowing through the elements of mutual engagement, negotiation of a joint enterprise, and shared repertoire. Specifically, two groups of volunteers are examined through a combination of participation, observation, and interviews in order to explore CoP theory as a dynamic system for examining and evaluating organizational knowledge. 相似文献

Much research on volunteers has focused on who the volunteers are, and what motivates them on an individual level. This study, however, aims to contextualize the long-term commitment found in a whole community of volunteers and to explain this pattern of collective volunteering not in terms of individual motivations but in terms of broader social processes. Data gathered from interviews with volunteers in Vikersund, Norway, and the analysis of local and national press coverage in the years leading up to the 2013 World Cup in Ski flying in Vikersund suggest that long-term volunteering can be understood in terms of (i) a high level of social integration (socialization, institutionalization); (ii) the creation of a collective identity focused around the ski flying hill; and (iii) the maintenance and reinforcement of strong community identity and social solidarity by local resistance to the perceived hostility of outside organizations. This focus on the broader community/social processes has implications for researchers examining sport event volunteers as well as managers of recurring sport events wishing to retain volunteers. 相似文献

大型体育赛事志愿者满意度的调查研究——以第十一届世界青年田径锦标赛为例 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
采用访谈法和问卷调查法,对第十一届国际田联世界青年田径锦标赛(简称世青赛)的志愿者管理人员进行访谈,了解本次赛事志愿者管理情况;对参加本次田径锦标赛的志愿者从7个方面进行满意度的问卷调查。结果表明:大型体育赛事志愿者的管理还存在一些问题,志愿者的满意度尚未达到平均水平,但是大多数志愿者仍对大型体育赛事的志愿者活动存在着巨大的热情和积极性。随着北京2008年奥运会志愿者筹办工作的展开,研究志愿者的满意度对2008奥运会志愿者的管理具有一定的现实意义和实践意义。 相似文献

The requirement that all Local Educational Authorities in England and Wales produce plans for their provision for ‘pupils with problems’ has resulted in a wide range of responses. The data in this paper are drawn from a sample of Behaviour Support Plans and the responses of a group of individuals (teachers) closely affected by them. The plans are firstly analysed using an evaluation framework developed from Circular 1198, which announced the Behaviour Support initiative. The paper then draws on the evaluatory critiques of teachers who work in both mainstream and special (EBD) schools; these were obtained by interview. Data suggest that, BSPs generally follow the pattern of guidance provided in the Circular, although there are several notable omissions in some plans. There are wide variations in the way in which BSPs have been perceived by teachers working with children with behaviour problems; importantly, these views regard some BSPs as, in part, little more than reiterations of previously attempted initiatives. 相似文献

通过对我国体育赛事志愿者发展现状进行分析与研究,得知体育赛事志愿者的主力军是高校大学生,队伍呈现单一化与年轻化的特点,建立了比较完善的宣传、招募、培训与激励机制,建立了不计其数的非营利性志愿者组织机构,但是相关政策法规不健全,组织管理比较混乱,重复设置、资源浪费的情况比较严重。建议:完善体育志愿服务的法律法规,做好体育赛事志愿者队伍的专业化建设与组织管理的转型,加快体育赛事志愿的宣传、招募、培训与网络平台建设,完善体育赛事志愿者保障与激励机制,注重志愿精神的培养。 相似文献

Despite the known benefits of volunteering–such as helping others, contributing to community and the development of skills–individuals with a disability are underrepresented in volunteering roles. In this research, the authors examine the benefits and barriers to including volunteers with a disability in three Australian sport and recreation organisations, as well as the potential human resource management implications. The authors take a multi-level perspective and draw on interviews with sport volunteers with a disability, staff from sport organisations, and recipients of services from volunteers with a disability conducted in 2016–2017. Researchers have not previously examined these diverse perspectives, but they are important for understanding how to include and support sport volunteers with a disability. Analysis of the interviews revealed a wide range of benefits of including volunteers with a disability including social acceptance, social inclusion and personal development; but both volunteers and organisations identified numerous barriers to volunteering, including negative attitudes, personal factors, organisational factors and lack of social inclusion. Based on the results of this study, the authors develop recommendations for human resource management practices and policies to support volunteers with a disability in sport and recreation organisations, which are organised around an ability-motivation-opportunity framework. The results suggest that organisations need to create an environment that facilitates open, two-way communication with volunteers with a disability about their needs and wants.
