The audience was encouraged to participate. This article examines the purpose, structure, and short-term outcomes of a new Strategy Session format introduced at the NASIG Twenty-Second Annual Conference. Borrowing from the trend in modern matchmaking known as speed dates, this interactive Strategy Session employed a moderated round robin format that brought publishers and librarians together to discuss serials topics of common interest. Limited by the clock, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and share thoughts from their perspectives as serials producers and serials consumers. Though of limited duration, discussions could touch on any topic related to the creation, use, and impact of serials in the participants' respective areas of work and interest. The Strategy Session was offered in two time slots on the first day of the conference. 相似文献

Abstract This ease study describes the Lise of an information technology vendor conference to assure the smooth opening of the remodeled Central Library of the Multnomah County (Portland. Oregon) Lihrary. Collaborative meetings with vendors provided the opportunity tor hardware, telecommunications, integrated library system, and network vendors to meet with library staff to troubleshoot problems, share information, und anticipate situations. The meetings also provided library administration with the opportunity to underscore the importance of the opening. The article discusses the elements necessary to make this approach a success and reports on events before, during, and after the opening of the new facility. 相似文献

ABSTRACTLibraries face many challenges in making electronic resources accessible and discoverable. In particular, the exponentially incre-asing number of licensed and open access electronic resources and the dynamic nature of consortial collections (platform changes, title transference between packages, and package overlap) present challenges for cataloging and discovery. From March 21 to April 10, 2017, the authors performed a selected review of library literature and conducted a survey of library consortia worldwide to ascertain the cataloging models, strategies, and advanced technological tools used to ensure discovery of consortial collections.
