Abstract: | This study was a re-examination of the norms developed on American college students for the Polyphasic Values Inventory, and a longitudinal study of value change among students ten years later. The sample in the follow-up study consisted of 662 students randomly drawn from Baylor University, Boston College, University of Northern Colorado, and Wheaton College. A longitudinal change of the values in the population over the last decade was detected. Results also suggest that values are becoming more commonly shared between the sexes. There were greater institutional differences in the original normative study which might indicate that a common social reality may be in the development within the population of college students. |
