| 摘 要： | 尚补史是中国古代小说审美思想的表现之一，它在小说萌芽的时代和言小说兴盛的唐代，就具体表现为作有意替一些杜撰的野史逸闻找正史做依据以加强其史实性；到通俗小说兴盛时代，此一思想被通俗小说作家和批评家发扬光大：首先是小说家极推崇且积极地实践以小说形式来演义正史的创作倾向，其次是作家于非历史演义的通俗小说上常贴土“于史有证”的标签和以写史书的心态与做法来创作小说，第三是小说家和小说批评家对小说价值功用的理性认识上认为通俗小说的主要价值之一在于补史。在尚补史思想的发展过程中，还有小说理论家通过其理论表述所提出的尚补史之观点，这两方面的共同发展，构成了尚补史这一小说审美思想的全部。此一思想的历史化根源在于古代小说的写实传统和小说这一体在古代化中的地位。
