| Abstract: | Faculty in the university forms a special occupational group that possesses unique characteristics.This article describes the occupational characteristics of university teachers,namely,"double loyalty"-they are more loyal to profession than to college,autonomy of work,teacher appointment system that features tenure and hierarchy,peer-based rather than customer(student)-based evaluation mechanism,and sharp contrast between human capital investment and compensation. |
