| Abstract: | Chen Yuan's Annotation to Textual Criticism is a book based on his analytical study of about 12 000 errors found in his proofreading of the Institutions of Yuan Dynasty. It reveals the common faults exists in changing the wording of ancient books and lays the theoretical foundation for textual criticism by putting it on the scientific track through his generalization and summation of the approaches, usual practices and universal principles in the proofreading of ancient books through the ages. |
