佛教中国化的再探讨

摘    要:产生于印度的佛教,于公元一世纪传入中国,初传时依附于道术、玄学、儒学之上,南北朝时转而发展玄学,隋唐时佛教宗派形式。各宗派在修持方式、义理建构上各有不同,但都以心性论作为宗派重心及以儒论佛,融摄儒家伦理道德,发展了中古心性论及融合儒学伦理而中国化。其中禅宗的佛性说及顿悟成佛说,则是对中古心性论的重要发展,其倡导的出世与入世圆融一体的生存方式,契合了儒家人生理想而成为典型的中国化的佛教,并对中国文化产生了深远的影响。

Abstract:The Buddhism was created in India and introduced in to China in the fir st century. It first existed in ways of the Taoism, metaphysics and Confucianism , then turned to develop metaphysics in the fifth to sixth centuries before fina lly established itself as an independent religion in the seventh. Although diffe ring in ways of practice and doctrines, these religions all regard as focus the theory of "temperament", the theory of interpreting Buddhism in terms of Confuci anism, in particular the middle ancient theory on "temperament", and are thus fi nally sinofied. Among these theories that of Zen about the Buddhist character and the sudden insight are the most important development to the middle ancient th eory on "temperament," which advocates the unified way of existence of both reti rement from and participation into the worldly life and, as a result, exercises profound and lasting influence on the Chinese culture for it has become typical sinofied Buddhism because of its affinity with Confucianism.
