| Abstract: | To all of us, the PUN is not an unfamiliar term. It can be regarded as a rhetorical device in which the meaning of one language sign covers two different referents in the extralinguistic field. This article mainly deals with the major types of the English puns and Chinese puns, their each feature, their mutual similarities and differences. Due to the great differences existing between English and Chinese, we have to rack our brains to think over how to translate them into other languages. Thus, puns also serve as valuable resources for academic studies. |
