| 摘 要： | 威拉·凯瑟在美国小说家中向来有着不可逾越的地位。《哦拓荒者！》作为其第二部，即是第一部家喻户晓的作品，被誉为美国西进运动的赞歌。小说中，凯瑟用艺术手法呈现西部荒原上开拓者的拓荒生活。两代拓荒者用毕生心血在贫瘠之地搭建起“农业乌托邦”。正当日子渐有起色，心灵却连年无收。本文将首次从精神分析视角重读《哦拓荒者！》，揭开其中因精神缺陷酝酿出的一段段缺憾爱，以此加深读者对作品及人物的理解。

| Abstract: | Willa Cather has few rivals among the American novelists of this century. Her second novel, O Pio?neers!, also the first famous one, is applauded as a splendid celebration of American frontier life. Miss Cather re?sponds to frontier experiences, to the settlers, and to the vastness of the country artistically. The two generations of pioneers on the Divide managed to build an "agrarian Utopia" out of an infertile land which always holds a promise for better life. Alas, when they own a landscape of harvest, their heart remains barren. O Pioneers!, a psy?chological drama of dysfunctional love, will be examined from the perspective of psychoanalysis in this paper in order to reinforce our interpretation of the work, and thereby reveals a pattern of psychological behavior responsi?ble for the"narrative progression". |
