| 摘 要： | 对96部中英文当代作品的前言就模糊限制语的使用异同进行了对比分析。结果表明,英文作者在前言中使用模糊限制语的频率远远高于汉语作者,而且在类型的偏好上存在着差异。本文从文化的角度阐释这些差异产生的原因。

| Abstract: | This paper makes a contrastive study of hedges in about 100 English and Chinese prefaces. The results show that English writers use more hedges in preface-writing than Chinese writers do, and they show different preferences in choosing hedges. This paper also explains the differences from cultural point of view. |
