| 摘 要： | 1793年马戛尔尼使华,客观上反映了18世纪末英国资本主义的发展对改善中英关系和扩大对华贸易的迫切要求。具体说来,降低自华进口茶叶税、减少清廷对英贸易限制、改善英商在华处境、开拓新的殖民市场和争取领事裁判权是英国对华贸易亟待解决的问题,也是英方此次遣使访华的根本动因。而先进科学技术的传播,只是近代西方殖民扩张的附加结果,不能作为使团此次出访的动因。

| Abstract: | In 1793 Macartney was sent on a diplomatic mission to China.His visit objectively reflected the pressing demands of Britain for an improvement of Sino-British relations and for expanding trade with China to develop British capitalism in the late 18th century.Britain had,specifically speaking,several problems that should be tacked immediately in order to develop trade with China: cutting down the taxes of importing tea from China,relieving restrictions of the imperial government of the Qing dynasty on its commerce with Britain,improving the conditions of British merchants in China,setting up a new colonial market and acquiring the consular jurisdiction.Accordingly,these unresolved problems were the fundamental impulses of the sending of Macartney to visit China.The spreading of advanced science and technology could not be regarded as the cause of this visit,but just an auxiliary consequence of colonial expanding that was caused by western countries in modern times. |
