| Abstract: | With a rapid increase in the enrollment of English majors currently, English language teaching for English majors has been confronted with challenges and difficulties. Many issues such as speeding up English teaching and learning reform, improving teaching quality and cultivating the eligible students to meet multi-requirement of the modern information era have become our main concern. This paper presents reform plans by the Ministry of Education and the National Foreign Language Teaching & Learning Advisory Board and probes into the necessity of the reform in terms of orienting the goal and components of English program for English majors, updating course design, students, teachers, teaching methodology and teaching and learning evaluation system. |
