英汉语序对比及其认知差异

摘    要:通过对比《英语世界》中英文版的近30篇文章,指出英汉语序的不同之处,并从认识模式分析,探求两者在认知层面上的差异。英语采用自下而上,即部分到整体的模式;汉语采用自上而下,把句子当作整体的模式。依据认知语言学的观点,英汉语序的差异是由信息处理过程中的图形/背景模式的不同取向造成的。

Abstract:This paper points out the differences between English and Chinese word order by comparing more than 30 English - Chinese essays in The World of English. It explores their cognitive differences through cognition pattern. English adopts a bottom -up model, which is from part to whole; while Chinese adopts a top - down model which considers sentence as a whole. According to cognitive linguistics, the difference between English and Chinese word order lies in choosing of figure/ground patterns in information processing.
