| 摘 要： | 美国作家霍桑的《红字》以象征手法的运用而著称。霍桑不仅赋予“红字”多种寓意,其所描述的很多事物及自然环境都具有丰富的象征内涵。就象征在《红字》中的人物名称方面的运用来探讨海丝特、阿瑟·丁梅斯代尔、罗杰以及珍珠等人物的内心世界对研究《红字》具有十分重要的意义。
