| Abstract: | ＂於 （于）之＂, a structure of preposition and object, was infrequently seen in ancient Chinese literature language after the middle of the Western Zhou Dynasty. This phenomenon has not been explained rationally. From the pronunciation of ＂於 （于）之＂, the reason for its dying away is discovered. It is given up at last be-cause its pronunciation of ＂於 （于）之＂ would be confused with those of ＂＂ and ＂呜呼噫嘻＂ which are exclamations to express bitterness. |
