| 摘 要： | 修辞学是否以诚信为原则，也即是否纳入道德评价、价值评判，反映了两种不同的修辞观，即“主诚”和“辞巧”。人们一般认为西方修辞学更重视方法与技巧，其实主诚派和辞巧派两种修辞观贯穿于东西方修辞学史。两种修辞观分歧的焦点在于对修辞学的性质、目的及用途的认识不同，同时也就必然涉及对表达得体性的界定问题。东西方主诚派的观点有着惊人的一致性，其深刻原因就在于重视修辞学的崇高目的,注重于修辞学的认知功能、沟通功能。诚信原则并非外加于修辞学的道德要求而是修辞学功能得以实现的内在要求。

| Abstract: | Whether truthfulness is to be taken as the basic principle in rhetorical studies, or even, a principle of moral and value judgment results from two different rhetorical ideologies. Scholars who believe in the former fall into school of truthfulness while the opposite into school of techniques. While most people generally think that western rhetorical studies concentrate more attention on rhetorical methods and techniques, they neglect the fact that truthfulness has been always emphasized by quite a few western scholars in the history of rhetorical studies. The writer of this paper holds the view that the difference of the two ideologies lie in their different understanding of the nature, purpose and use of the rhetoric. The difference, therefore, causes a discrepency in acceptability of appropriateness. In fact, there exist amazing similarities in the western and eastern schools of truthfulness. The reason for it, as the writer observes, is that they both regard rhetoric as a lofty ideal, for it plays an important role in cognition and communication. Truthfulness principle is not an additional moral standard placed on rhetoric; rather, it is the indispensable factor that helps rhetorical uses to function. |
