Abstract: | English teachers are all aware that there are some terms used to describe relationships among words in English. A case in point is synonymy, which describes the relations of two or more words with very close meanings. Two less well-known terms, which deserve the attention of English learners and confuse some of them at the same time, are homonymy and polysemy. This paper explores different ways of distinguishing homonymy from polysemy, tentatively trying to help throw light on these two confusing terms. |
