International Donation of Medical Journals and Books |
| |
Abstract: | Developing countries are experiencing a severe shortage of current educational materials. This lack is especially critical in medical schools, libraries, and hospitals. Medical libraries in the United States, however, often have a surplus of duplicate medical books and journals received each year as gifts. Arranging for transfer of the surplus to locations where these materials are needed requires an investment of time and effort. Identifying institutions in need of materials, determining exactly what is needed, packing, arranging transport, and obtaining funding are necessary steps in the process. The benefit to developing countries makes this a worthwhile endeavor. |
