| Abstract: | The concept and categories of pragmatic relevance were perceived to be applicable in the investigation of language use in all dimensions,and accordingly,used as the baseline for analyzing pragmatic failure.Under such a framework,five types of pragmatic failures relevant to the five aspects of pragmatic relevance were identified.It was believed that this discussion would exhibit a more robust explantory power to pragmatic failure analysis credited to Thomas'(1983) dichotic approach. |
