Abstract: | Beginning with a discussion of the need for and the criteria of quality assessment and accreditation in higher education, the author gives a rapid survey of western European practice. She then introduces the Polish situation in which two organizations have proposed higher education evaluation and accreditation systems: the General Council for Higher Education and the Institute of Contemporary Civilisation. Both organizations have developed pilot projects with selected Polish higher education institutions. The author summarizes the criteria and procedures of the evaluation systems of both organizations. She concludes by mentioning the results of a recent Polish‐American Seminar on Accreditation and Quality Assessment. |
