| Abstract: | Lexical cohesion, as one of the major cohesive devices, is an important step in analyzing and understanding discourse. Using the short story of “Half a Day” as an exemplar, this article introduces the device of lexical chains to discover the multiple themes of the story, which reveals the value of lexical cohesion chain in fictional discourse. |
