| 摘 要： | 英语是印欧语系中西日曼语的一支。现代英语是分析性的语言，而古英语却是高度综合性的语言，与其它的印欧语相比，现代英语的词尾屈折变化最少。本拟就英语词尾屈折变化的发展过程作一探源，并以名词、动词为例，比较了现代英语同古英语、中古英语、早期现代珠词尾屈折变化特点，旨在揭示语言由综合到分析、由词形的多变化到无变化的发展过程。

| Abstract: | Modern English is an analytic language, whereas Old English is a synthetic one. Old English is a combination of the three vernaculars: Anglo, Saxon and Jutes. Compared with other Indo-European languages, English has the least inflections. But Old English is highly inflected. This paper makes a general survey of the English inflections in Old English, Middle English and Early Modern English, and aims to discover the historical course of English from a synthetic to an analytic language. |
