| Abstract: | This paper analyzes the reasons why French jokes at times fail to amuse Chinese people from the perspective of cross-culture communication. It holds that knowing the differences between French and Chinese languages, as well as the cultures will lead to better understanding of French jokes. It also points out that language understanding should base on culture background. |
