摘    要:晚清以来的文艺大众化运动在本质上是一个整体。虽然晚清和五四时期的白话文运动在历史表象和内在精神上有具体而微的差别,但是二者都服务于新民强国的政治需求。“文艺大众化”是给已经贵族化的文学祛魅,以使其贴近大众、为大众接受。晚清和“五四”的知识者认为,只有这样才能够通过文学启蒙大众,达到新民强国的现代性目的。

Abstract:Since the late Qing Dynasty, the movement on the popularization of arts is in essence a whole. Although the historical notion and the inner spirits of the vernacular movement have some factual and wispy differences between in the late Qing Dynasty and in the " May 4th" period, they service the common political demand to updating public and powering nation. " Popularization of Arts " is to have the noblest literature disenchantment, which can keep them close to the public and be to accepted easily by the common public. The intellectual in the late Qing Dynasty and the " May 4th" believed that the impacfful way to achieving the modernity purpose of updating public and powering nation were enlightening the public by literature and arts.
