| Abstract: | Based on the characteristics of Oates' literary creation, this paper analyzes the female world in Oates' writings and expounds the pressures and misfortunes of contemporary American women .Oates presents a series of female images with the unique aesthetic view of a female, attacks the great pressures put on women by American society through these images, points out the dilemma contemporary American women face, querries and protests against women's negating traditional values. |
