| Abstract: | Metaphor is a sublimation of the language. It is one of the poetic language forms. It is the connection of the informative and the aesthetical functions of the language. There are far more differences than similarities between English and Chinese metaphors. This paper probes into the cultural background of these cognitive differences. |
