| Abstract: | Xikou is a national scenic zone located in the southwest of Ningbo, a central city and port in the south of the Yangtze River Delta. In an area of about 140 square kilometers, Xikou presents three major tourist attractions： Chiang Kai-shek＇s birthplace, Maitreya Sanctuary, and Xuedou Mountain. The three places are unique. It was as early as 1930s that Xikou began to attract curious people interested to find out how the birthplace of Chiang Kai-shek （1887- 1975）, who had recently come to national power, looked like. It is the only home to Maitreya sanctuary in China. |
