摘    要:隐喻不仅是一种修辞现象,更是人类认知世界的工具,它体现了人类的思维及行为模式。以概念隐喻为理论基础,对汉语“脸”及英语face所构筑和衍生的隐喻意义进行分析,旨在揭示英汉认知方式和中西文化的异同。

Abstract:Metaphor is a kind of figures of speech,and more importantly,as the chief means of cognition for human kind,it is closely related with our modes of thinking and behavior.Based on the conceptual metaphor theory proposed by Lakoff and Johnson,as well as linguistic materials in both English and Chinese,this paper analyses face metaphors in order to probe into similarities and differences of English and Chinese cognition and culture.
