Abstract:Self-discipline and obligation are two core concepts in Kantian moral philosophy.Through the concept of self-discipline,Kant criticized the irrational behaviors which are under control of desires, and stressed on the importance of rationality in morality on one hand;and rejected the heteronomy comes from authorities and norms out of subject on the other hand. The rule of morality is the autonomy behaviors out of rationality, and the basis of morality is not on the inclination of natural feelings, nor on outer restraint by authorities. But the concept of obligation highlights the duality of man as a finite being. The man with real virtue is not only rational and self-legislative,but is also able to do what he is obliged to in the conflict between reason and desire to fulfill his obligation.
Keywords:Kant  morality  self-discipline  obligation
