An Inquiry into Incidental Vocabulary Acquisition in the Theory of "Topic Reading"

Abstract:In recent years, incidental vocabulary acquisition has become a hot topic in English teaching research, but the study of incidental vocabulary acquisition can not he separated from the study of comprehensibility context. "Comprehension" is the core of Krashen' s topic reading theory. Through analyzing the theory of topic reading and incidental vocabulary acquisition, and the internal relationship between the two, this paper summarizes its enlightenment on English teaching, and its positive influence on vocabulary learning and English teaching.
