孔墨教授之精神与大学教育

摘    要:蔡元培先生最早提出兼采欧美之长与孔墨教授之精神的现代大学教育理念。当代学者在重申和引述蔡元培先生的这一理念时,出现了或有意或无意的误读。这种误读实际上是对蔡元培先生的大学教育理念的反思和发展。当代大学教育应当立足当下、立足自我,在此基础上,兼采欧美之长与“冗墨之精神”。传统文化首先是专家之学,传统文化的教育首先是知识教育,然后才是陶养道德、模范人格与人文精神。唯有建立了与传统文化精神进行对话的知识基础和理解能力,传统文化的精神对于现代大学教育产生意义才有可能。

Abstract:Cai Yuan-pei was the first person in China who put forward the modern university educational idea which combined the merits of occidental education with the spirits of confucianism and Mohism.However,contemporary scholars misunderstood this idea deliberately or unconsciously when they reiterated or quoted it.In fact,the sort of misunderstanding is a kind of rethink and development of Mr.Cai's idea.Contemporary university education should base upon circumstance and then combine the merits of occidental education and the spirits of Confucianism and Mohism.Traditional culture is firstly the knowledge of the scholars in this field.Thus,traditional culture education is firstly the knowledge education and then to cultivate morality and to model personality and humanity spirits.The spirits of traditional culture will make a meaningful contribution to modern university education as long as we have knowledge background and understanding of the spirits of traditional culture.
