| 摘 要： | 五四新文学最重要的价值之一是理性精神的显现，这首先体现在对人的认识，对个人自我价值的认识上；其次体现在中国人的思想观念具备了世界视野，认识到了盲目自大、帝王君亲等落后观念；第三体现在众多有识之士基于对国家民族命运的思考而选择了文学事业，这些选择本身就蕴涵着理性的力量。但五四新文学同时也相应地体现了某些非理性的因素，五四对个人价值的发现与推崇，也在某种程度上为新的个人崇拜与偶像塑造埋下了伏笔。五四虽然带来了先进的世界视野，却也带来了对外来事物的过分崇拜甚至迷信，接受过多而消化过少；那么多人不约而同地选择文学实际上过分抬高了文学的地位，夸大了文学的作用，将文学与社会人生过分紧密地结合在一起。五四新文学的深远影响同时体现出了理性与非理性两种因素，深入思考这两种因素的共存与纠缠对总结五四新文学的历史经验具有重要的作用。

Considerations on the Rationality and Irrationality of New Culture of the May 4th Movement |

| Abstract: | The emergence of the spirit of rationality is one of the most important values for the new cul- ture of the May 4th Movement, as is evident firstly in the recognition of humans and of personal self-value; secondly in the global vision in the thought of Chinese and their realization of such backward ideas as blind arrogance and absolute dominance of monarchs over ministers, etc ; thirdly in the choice of literature as their profession by numerous persons of insight based on their reflections on the fate of the nation and the state, which implicates rationality in themselves. However, some irrational factors can also be discerned in the new culture of the May 4th Movement, as is manifest in the discovery and worship of personal values, which lays a foundation for new personal worship and statue erection to some degree. Despite its introduction of global vision, the May 4th Movement has meanwhile ushered in an excessive worship for and even blind faith in mat- having linked literature with society and life too closely. Given the simultaneous existence of rationality and irrationality in the far-reaching impact of the new culture of the May 4th Movement, it is of great significance for summarizing the historical experience of the new culture of the May 4th Movement by probing into the co- existence and entanglement of these two factors. |
