| 摘 要： | 心理象征是霍桑作品中常见的一种表现手法。他不仅运用多种类型的象征如细节性场景象征、意象象征、神话象征来展示社会现实,揭示人物命运,而且特别擅长于借助种种意象,暗示小说中经常出现的、没有表述出来的、驱动人物的心理动力,隐含地表达小说主人公某种特定的心理状态或情感状态,从而更好地剖析人物心理、展现小说主题。

| Abstract: | Psychological symbol is one of the frequently used methods in Hawthorne's works. Not only does he use various symbols, such as symbolic episodes, symbolic images and symbolic mythologies to show the social reality and his characters' fates, but he is good at using symbols as the manifestations of the unstated psychological forces that motivate his characters in order to analyze their psychology deeply and minutely, and to show their features and the theme of his works better. |
