| 摘 要： | 城市是一个复杂的综合体,尽管它的形成和发展受到许多条件的制约,但从总体上看,平原广阔、经济发达、水陆交通便利是每个城市兴起发展的必备条件。中国早期城市无不兴起在平原和水陆交通要道之上,平原是早期城市的摇篮,水陆交通要道是早期城市兴起和发展的杠杆。

China's Geographical Environment and Early Cities |

| Abstract: | Bound in formation and development by a variety of conditions, a city is a complex synthesis. Generally speaking, however, the rise and prosperity of a city depends largely on such necessaty conditions as location on a vast plain, economic prosperity and convenient communications by water and land. Unexceptionally, all early cities in China were built on the juncture of land and water courses on vast plains. This reveals the fact that plains were cradles and major land and water courses were levers for the formation and development of early cities. |
