| Abstract: | The globalization of sport has brought with it an increasing trend globally of unionization by sports players and athletes. The paper introduces FIFPro, from its inception in 1965 to its current status as the world football players' union. It focuses on the attempts, through the history and legislative work of FIFPro, to take the unionization of players beyond the framework of sports and its future prospects. |
