利文斯通的古典教育思想浅析

摘    要:英国的古典教育在“一战”期受到人们的抨击,英国教育家利文斯通则认为,古典教育对培养学生的理性和塑造国民精神具有重要作用,传统的自由教育在科学技术迅猛发展的时代仍然有其存在的理由,并应在教育中占据主导地位,笔者认为,利文斯通的教育思想对当今教育实践中的人文教育及其与科学教育的融合具有一定的借鉴意义。

Abstract:Classical Education in Britain was criticized by the people in the period of the World War I. The educationist of Britain, Livingstone, considered that classical education could play the key role of training students' reason and molding students' national spirits, traditional liberal education not only had the reason for existing in the era in which science and technology had been developing rapidly but also should hold the dominant position in education. The author considers that Livingstone's thoughts can give us some reference for the implementation of humanities education, the mergence of humanities education and scientific education.
