| Abstract: | School choice has been an important and controversial topic in educational reforms in many countries. Some researchers interpret such reforms as the implementation of "quasi-market" mechanism. After defining the meaning of educational "quasi-market", the paper analyzes the operation of such mechanism during school choice reform, including "screen skimming" effect of selection between schools and parents/students. Then in the third part it states and predicts some existing and possible consequences of school choice reforms from a critical perspective. |
