| 摘 要： | 普尔作为美国公共图书馆运动的先驱,其图书馆学思想主要体现在:为公共图书馆作了最完整、最到位的定义;在图书的选择与购买中全力维护图书馆的利益;对传统的图书馆建筑风格进行彻底的改革;编制普尔期刊文献索引和字典式目录以提高图书馆文献的利用率;肯定作为大学课堂教学延伸的大学图书馆在大学课程体系中的地位和重要性。

| Abstract: | As the pioneer of American public library movement,Poole's thought of library science lies mainly in five aspects:defining perfectly the term of 'public library',protecting the profit of libraries in books collection and acquisition,reforming completely the traditional style of library buildings,compiling Poole's index to periodical literature and dictionary catalogue in order to improve the usage rate of literature,and confirming the role and importance of university libraries in university curricula. |
