| 摘 要： | 委婉语是世界上各个民族都有的语言单位和语言现象,由于社会习俗的不同和生活习惯的差异,在不同的语言文化背景下,为避免在社会交际中的尴尬或不愉快,产生了诸多不同的社会禁忌语,即委婉语。文章通过一些具体的实例分析了特定的语言环境下英语委婉语的各种社会交际功能及其使用方式,从而达到成功地进行语言交际的目的。

| Abstract: | The euphemism is the language unit and the phenomenon of language which various peoples have in the world.Because different peoples have different living habits or customs and different cultures have different social taboos,we must learn to use euphemisms to avoid embarrassment or displeasure.From linguistic angle,this paper explored variety social functions of Euphemism in the particular language environment with specific examples.And it also illustrates the methods of using the euphemism in different backgrounds and different environments to achieve the purpose of verbal communication successfully. |
