| Abstract: | This discourse analyzes the three main aspects that Jiao Xun's Annotation on Mencius had been achieved. In the first place, it broke through the old theory-the commentary never overruns the detailed annotation, reflecting the author's spirit of be practical and realistic during the pursuing of his studies. secondly, the method of pursuing meaning from sound, marked the climax of explanation of words and sentences in ancient books that scholars had achieved in Qing dynasty. In the third place, it contained abundant of citations and various of explanation skills, presenting the integration of explanation of words and sentences in ancient books. |
