摘    要:司徒雷登是中美教育关系史上的重要角色。具有复杂文化背景的司徒雷登认同中国文化,把宗教观融入中国教育。在司徒雷登办学理念的指导下,燕京大学作为传播中西文化和教育的载体,实现了向中国化和世俗化的转换,成为中美教育关系发展史上的里程碑。

Abstract:John Leighton Stuart played an important role in the history of educational relation between China and the United States.He had very complicated culture background,and he was agreeable to Chinese culture.Stuart put his religious conception into Chinese education.With his help,Yenching University became the media of transmitting both Chinese and western culture and education.Thus,Yenching University became the milestone in the history of educational relation between China and the United States.
