| 摘 要： | 把汉语的称呼语“某某老师”直译成英语的“TeacherSo -and -so”或音译成“So -and-soLaoshi”是不妥的。根据英语称呼老师的正确方式 ,“某某老师”应该英译作“Mr .(Miss)So-and -so .”汉语翻译必须考虑英语语言的文化习惯 ,切不可为追求意义的对等而一味进行直译或音译。

| Abstract: | It is improper to translate "So-and-so Laoshi", the Chinese form of address, word for word into English as"Teacher So-and-so"or transliterate it as "So-and-so Laoshi."The correct translation for it should be " Mr. (Miss) So-and-so", which is the right way English people address teachers. Cultural habit of English language must be considered in Chinese - English translation, and it is wrong to blindly employ literal translation & transliteration to achieve the equivalence in meaning in translation. |
