| Abstract: | A mat foundation for a highrise structure of a 30 storey building in Nanjing, P.R.China founded on soft bedrock has been monitored over a construction period of one year. To compare the performance of the foundation with the design assumptions, instrumentation consisting of contact pressure load cells, along with steel force transducers and settlement points was installed. The instrumentation was monitored at frequent intervals according to the loads during construction period. This paper presents the results of the field monitoring and the results of a finite element analysis of foundation soil interaction. |
