| 摘 要： | 文章探讨了玛格丽特·劳伦斯在《石头安琪儿》中表现的一个首要的主题—徒劳的逃脱的主题。加拿大小镇玛那瓦卡的人们试图逃脱家庭影响 ,逃脱自我的空虚感 ,逃脱对他们毫无宽容的命运……。但是尽管他们的努力非常勇敢 ,非常感人 ,最后都注定失败。简述了与此主题密切相关的高傲的主题。高傲的天性使哈格的生活成为一片荒漠 ,导致她与周围的人格格不入 ,导致她不幸的婚姻生活。

| Abstract: | The thesis focuses on the primary theme expressed by Magarette Laurence in her novel "The Stone Angel". The people in the small Canadian town Manawaka try to escape from the influence of their family, from their own sense of emptiness, from the merciless fate. But despite of their brave and moving efforts, they are doomed to fail. The thesis also briefly discusses another theme of the novel--arrogance, which is closely linked to the proceeding theme. Hague's arrogant nature turns her life into a desert, which leads to her incompatibility with the people around her and to her unhappy marriage life. |
