| 摘 要： | 孟子作为战国时代＂士＂阶层的突出代表,一方面是知识分子保持独立人格、自由思想的典范,另一方面则因受制于强大王权,苦于自身缺乏构造理想社会的力量,而不得不游走于诸侯之间,做着＂帝王之师＂的梦。这一两难处境,同时也是后世士大夫阶层所面临的问题。笔者试图从纪录孟子一生行迹、思想的《孟子》一书中,透析孟子为代表的士人阶层的处境,以及这一群体的独特气质和人格张力。

| Abstract: | Mencius is a prominent representative of intellectuals in the Warring States. On the one hand, He is a model of intellectuals who remain their independent personality and thoughts of liberty. On the other hand, subject to the strong monarchical power, he suffered from lacking strength to establish an ideal society and had to migrate among the feudal princes and dreamed of being the imperial preceptor. He was in the dilemma which was also faced by Scholar-bureaucrat of late generations. In this article, I tried to analyze the whole social situation and this group＇s unique temperament and tension of personality according to Mencius that records Mencius＇s thoughts and experience all over his life. |
