| 摘 要： | 不同的历史时期,经济环境,文化内涵导致了祥林嫂与海丝特·白兰性格发展和命运走向的不同。而面临的男权主义统治的共同背景,使她们具有丧失自我主体成为物化了的附庸的共同本质,以及他们成为男性文化下贞洁、禁欲等女性价值观念的牺牲品的共同遭遇;作者本身在深切关注女性生存状态的同时不自觉流露出男权意识。重新提出女性意识的觉醒以及随着时代的进步而注入新的内容仍是人类真正文明的要求和涵义。

Discussion on the Fate of Sister Xianglin and Hester Byran |

| Abstract: | Economic environment and cultural connotation in different historical periods gives rise to different characters and fates of Sister Xianglin (the character in Luxun’s namesake story) and Hester Byran. How the two women became- substantial dependency, lost self-identity, and sacrifice themselves for the values of‘pudicity’and‘abstinency’is di- scussed. Both authors have expressed deep concern over the fates of their characters whereas their unconscious outpour- ings of male chauvinism are still traced. The promotion of woman consciousness and its advance with the times represent the ever-progressing civilization. |
