| 摘 要： | 多元文化主义是20世纪60年代美国“民权运动”的产物，多元文化教育是多元文化主义在教育领域的体现。多元文化主义使美国社会各方面开始反思主流盎格鲁一撒克逊新教文化客观上对少数族群造成的歧视与伤害，在教育政策与实践中进行了一系列调整，这促进了社会的进步、平等与宽容，但也深刻地冲击了美国社会，形成了对美国国民性的重大挑战，从而引起了一些美国公众对多元文化教育的责难与批评，并在政治上也出现了相应的连锁反应，多元文化教育处于发展的困境之中。我们必须清醒认识到，美国多元文化教育是弱势群体的权利诉求行动，是一个理想中的教育路向，它将与“熔炉”主义在相互的碰撞中长期共存。
